The following day on a return journey, I visited the Langkawi Wildlife Park. The experience was amazing. It doesn’t feel like you’re within an ordinary zoo setting, which leaves you feeling hemmed in by barriers. This is an experience where you find yourself moving within an environment with birds flying all round.
The most memorable experience was definitely the interactive session. It was possible for me to feed hornbills, touch colorful macaws, and could even take a photo op with a gigantic python slithered across my shoulders (not exactly a brave act by me!). The zoo houses more than 150 species of animals, including the iconic raccoons, mischievous otters, and beautiful flamingos.
The first thing that makes this location stand out is the care that everything receives. The animals seem happy and healthy, and the staff members seem very knowledgeable and eager. If you’d like information or tips on how to take the best possible picture, they’d be more than happy to help.
The walk-through aviary is totally entrancing. Try imagining yourself in the middle of dozens of birds of the tropical kind as the peacocks walk by your feet. The total area can be covered in 2-3 hours.

4. Underwater World Langkawi - Pantai Cenang
If it’s a visit to Langkawi that you’ve planned, then it’s only apt that you include a visit to the Underwater World in your list of activities. Present in Pantai Cenang, this enormous aquarium is home to more than 4,000 aquatic species.
The big hit here is definitely the mind-blowing underwater tunnel that stretches an amazing 15 meters. Can you imagine walking through a tunnel as sharks, giant stingrays, and schools of colorful fish swim by in a spectacular 360-degree show? From what I’ve seen, it definitely looks magical.
However, there is so much more beyond this tunnel! The penguin exhibit is a reported showstopper (who doesn’t love watching these guys waddle about?), featuring a touch pool where you can get your hands on starfish and sea cucumbers. The enormous arapaima hall and rainforest section introduce an element of surprise, housing fresh water creatures and reptiles.
What fascinates me most is its combination of educational and entertaining aspects, including informative boards and ‘feeding time’ demonstrations on a regular schedule.

5. Crocodile Adventureland
The Crocodile Adventureland has been on my list of places to visit in Langkawi for years, and it’s definitely going on the agenda on the next holiday. The crocodiles alone make it an adrenaline-fueled experience, with more than 1,000 crocodiles inhabiting this park, making it one of the largest crocodile farms in Malaysia.
What fascinates me the most, though, is watching the exciting feeding displays. The concept of observing handlers going up close with prehistoric creatures like crocodiles alone gives me chills. However, it’s also stated that it’s an educational experience where spectators can learn more about crocodiles.
Aside from the crocs, it seems like there’s more wildlife in the park, including monkeys, bears, and a range of reptiles. The Giant Crocodile Cage is definitely one of the exhibits that interests me the most. It allows you to come fairly close to the crocodiles.
For families, it appears to be a very appealing alternative to more common tourist attractions, providing the perfect blend of education and entertainment. The children will undoubtedly enjoy all the interactive experiences on offer.

6. Bird Paradise
Bird Paradise is definitely on my Langkawi must-do list! Bird Paradise promises an intimate encounter with over 150 species of birds hailing from international origins – perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts such as I.
What I’m most thrilled about is the walk-through aviary design. Unlike zoos in the past, you’re seemingly right where the birds live with the birds flying back and forth around you. Picture colorful parrots perching on your shoulder or peacocks strolling carelessly in front of your feet – those Instagram photos would be amazing!
The interactive feeding experiences are also a big attraction. Having the opportunity to hand-feed rare birds such as hornbills, macaws, and toucans makes it sound like such a great memory for families traveling with children. I’ve also heard that they have interesting bird displays during the day that highlight the intelligence and capabilities of these birds.
The tropical garden flora makes the whole experience so that you get the impression that you’ve come into a rainforest heaven that exists in nature and not merely some ordinary exhibit.

7. Langkawi SkyCab
I’ve been looking around at Langkawi’s top attractions, and the SkyCab just continues to pop up as something that you have to do. This cable car trip will be nothing less than stunning, taking tourists 708 meters high above the sea to the peak of Mount Mat Cincang.
The actual excitement of this ride is the panorama views you’ll get on the 15-minute journey. Imagine soaring above the rainforest summits with the Andaman Sea stretching out endlessly before you – perfect for those Insta-photos! The SkyBridge at the top is a major drawcard as well; this swooping footbridge suspended out over the valley is just thrilling.
I’m particularly interested in the chance to apparently see all the way to Thailand on good days from the summit. The whole experience sounds ideal for families, couples, and individuals. Having multiple viewing areas and the potential to spot local wildlife, I’m definitely adding this to my Langkawi activities. Sunset rides seem to be equally enchanting!

8. Sky Bridge
I’m including the Sky Bridge Langkawi at the top of my list of things to do in Langkawi, and I have good reasons for doing so that I’m sure will persuade you to put it at the top of your list as well. The world’s second longest curved suspension bridge at 125m long connects from a solitary towering pylon, and the very idea of crossing it 660m above ground level on thin air is just exhilarating.
However, it’s not only the engineering that I am in awe of. Each part of it had to be choppered in by helicopter and installed on top of the mountain. For it is the beautiful scenery that I am also attracted to.
From the bridge, you can enjoy the sweeping views of the ancient Machincang mountain ranges, the Andaman Sea, as well as other surrounding islands in varied views depending on the perspective that the curved part of the bridge affords. The initial ride by cable car, known as the SkyCab, to get on the bridge offers quite an adventure on its own. This site has simply got to be the highlight of Langkawi.

If there’s anything that successfully captures the spirit of Langkawi within a single site, it’s undoubtedly the Oriental Village – and I’m truly excited to visit it. The Oriental Village is a completely developed site that comes with rustic interior design reflecting Chinese and Malay architectural styles, amidst lush foliage and rope bridges. The cherry on top of the cake? I get to visit two of my Malaysian favorites at once – Langkawi SkyCab and Langkawi SkyBridge at the same venue.
Apart from this, I also get to indulge in specially crafted dine stations and shopping arks with local produce and what I got to indulge at the petting zoo. And the cherry on top is that there is no entry fee to visit the whole village but only to each of the attractions. And this truly is a place which has everything – thrills, culture, and nature in one place!

10. Cenang Beach - Pantai Cenang (West coast)
This is the type of place that I would love to unpack my suitcase and go there immediately after seeing every picture I have seen of Cenang Beach. This 2 km beach has nothing but lovely white sand, ocean sky blue, palm trees blowing in the wind, and it actually does look quite much like the type of thing that I have heard or thought to be the quintessential Malaysian beach experience so far. My favorite aspect of it is the amount that it has to offer.
You can parasail, jetski, or snorkel, or just sit and enjoy the sun, with a cold beer from one of the numerous beach bars along the way.
The beach itself is also well-known for stunning sunsets, particularly when the islands in the distance on the horizon become gold. And, naturally, in addition to the great beach, there is the Underwater World aquarium with more than 200 species of sea creatures, and duty-free shopping complex and spas along the beach. 9. Preparing for the hidden gem of Langkawi. The inviting sound comes from Tanjung Rhu Beach. Located at the northern tip of Langkawi, it’s a hidden gem that offers distinct karst formations, beautiful beaches, and mangrove forests.
The most exciting feature for me aside from the beautiful beaches is that it has fine white sandy shores lined by beautiful blue and pristine waters apt for swimming and snorkeling, and of course it’s cooled by a constant breezy shade.
The magic doesn’t end there – it is also possible to walk to Pulau Chabang, an adjacent island, during low tide. I look forward to experiencing the world-famous sunset that truly offers a spectacle that would surely splash colors of pink, orange, and yellow on the horizon.
One won’t experience a crowded beach atmosphere like that of Cenang as it’s calm and offers an ideal refuge that is STILL located near the departure point of mangrove tours within Kilim Geopark.

Dev’s Adventure Tours always pops up in the results every time I search for information about Langkawi, and to be honest, I do have the craving to try their mangrove adventure at Kilim. A boat trip inside the mangrove groves from the past, the observation of birds such as eagles and monitor lizards, caving for the bats, and the discovery of lagoons inside the uninhabited islands are only a few examples. The adventure trail based within the Malaysian geoparks of Langkawi and Gunung Muling also appeal to the explorer within me greatly.
However, certain friends who have dined at the restaurant have nothing but great accolades for the professionalism of the safety demonstration and equipment provided, such that inexperienced persons are not nervous about the adventure at all.

15. Langkawi Sky ATV Ride
If you have seen those videos of the ATV racing over the rough terrain of Langkawi, then I’m pretty sure it’s the Langkawi Sky ATV Ride, and I’m tempted to get into the action personally! It’s not the typical touristy thing; it’s serious off-roading!
What I’m loving about this? The routes are designed to pass through jungle routes, rice paddies, as well as muddy roads, and the mountains are the backdrop for the whole activity.

A mere 20-minute jungle trek into the rainforest and you are able to savor a soothing view and the serenading sounds of rushing water right from the waterfall itself! The aspect of the clear water flowing between the levels, an infinity pool by nature, gazing over the Andaman Sea alike!

The uniqueness of the spot lies in the fact that accessing it doesn’t require walking through the jungle, since there are no jungle hikes to the location. A trail takes one to the waterfalls where a cooling dip could be taken after getting some sun at the beaches around the island.
I had the impression it was quite a relaxed destination compared to the other popular tourist spots around the Langkawi area, meaning fewer people and lots of opportunity for relaxation and taking in the soothing surroundings. Sometimes the best times are the simplest times: cool water, lush jungle, absolute bliss.

Taman Legenda transforms local legends into a magical outdoor adventure experience at the Kuah coastline of Langkawi. Featuring well over 17 beautiful sculptures relating to the old legends of Langkawi, from the epic of Mahsuri to the myth of the birth of the islands, this picturesque setting makes for an ideal outdoor activity.
The thing I love about this website is the fact that it manages to preserve the stories of our culture through arts. Every statue installed comes with an accompanying description of the stories behind the statues, thus both beautiful and educative at the same time. In fact, the architecture of the park encompasses elements of traditional Malay architecture.
The fact that it’s incredibly easy to access for free makes it the perfect route for a fun family day stroll in the afternoon, admiring the lighted statues during the night, and having the cool sea breeze at your back. And of course, this route comes with the best form of storytelling because it re-tells the myths behind the romantic myth of Langkawi.

A refreshing break from the norm of beach activities in Langkawi. A living museum where the rice culture of Malaysia is highlighted, complete with operational rice paddies and farming implements, such that the agri-cultural background for the culture of the country could be appreciated by visitors.
What makes this place unique is the hands-on learning experience it offers; visitors are given the opportunity to stroll through the rice terraces, view the process of rice planting, and understand the importance of rice in the Asian culture of Malaysia.
The museum features a herb garden and a restaurant where local meals are served. Surprisingly, the atmosphere around this place appears very calm, and the green pastures create a very soothing ambiance perfectly contrasting the popular tourist site destinations on the island. What intrigues me about this exhibition, however, is the opportunity to observe the artisans at work in their craft, the patience and time involved in the process of hand-painting visible in every piece, for example. 23. Eagle Square (Dataran Lang)
Dataran Lang is another popular spot which features as the most recognizable icon of Langkawi, standing proudly in the form of an eagle statue measuring 12 meters tall and ready to take off over the Andaman Sea. Dataran Lang represents the essence of the island perfectly because the name ‘Langkawi’ literally means ‘reddish-brown eagle’ in the Malay language
One aspect of this location which appeals to me is the fact that it has lots of versatility to offer. The large square at the location offers an awe-inspiring view of the sunset at the marina, which contains both traditional and yacht boats lining up alongside the marina. It truly colors your itinerary on what to see in Langkawi.
Coming during the evenings as the sea breeze starts blowing would be ideal, as the statue literally comes to life at night as it’s dramatically illuminated. In terms of facilities, there are cafes and souvenir shops within the area, and the locale actually makes for an ideal starting point for an island-hopping adventure from the Kuah Jetty.
24. Kuah Night Market (Pasar Malam) - Kuah town (Wednesday nights)
Kuah Night Market signifies the dynamism of street culture in Malaysian society. Every night the night market operates, the place comes to life in a gastronomic extravaganza where the residents and visitors congregate to share satay, grilled sea foods, and a lot of local dishes.
What excites me about this location the most is the authenticity—it still costs local prices, and the goodies sold are probably not available in other touristy areas. Kuih Muih to Roti John, exotic fruits to Keropok Lekor, every stall comes with stories about Malaysian goodies!
Besides the meals, the market is also an ideal place for reasonably priced clothing, accessories, and craftworks perfect for a souvenir hunt. The atmosphere at the market steeples electric and casual at the same time – vendors are very gracious and ready to chat.
25. Temonyong Night Market (Monday Nights)
Here, the authentic Langkawi comes alive – plain, genuine, and hospitable. The night market at Temonyong represents the essence of the ‘Pasar Malam’ culture, which still retains a local essence without the touristy touch found in other night markets.
Every other Monday night, the night market springs to life at Temonyong, overflowing with local colors. In fact, the unique aspect of Temonyong lies within the local flavor available there. You will be able to savor local homemade meals, local sea-side meals for the freshest quality, and local kuihs lovingly crafted by the local grannies.
Meals are very affordably priced according to local economic conditions. Its small size permits the vendors the opportunity for actual interaction for sharing their wares. Flavors vary from the fragrance of ‘nasi lemak’ to the grilling of fish in banana leaf packets; every meal savored there gives one the experience of eating at home.
Though smaller than the night market in Kuah, it’s an authentic venue where the ‘real’ Langkawi experience, as the locals actually experience it, comes into play.
26. Scarborough Fish & Chips - Pantai Cenang beachfront
Scarborough Fish & Chips at Tanjung Rhu represents one of the popular restaurants with a view, and it’s certainly climbing up the list of must-visits for me now! This seaside gem promises authentic British fish & chips fare in the beautiful backdrop of the Malaysian coastline – the thought of eating crispy, golden-battered fish and thick-cut chips amidst the pristine waters of Langkawi sounds nothing short of heaven!
What really intrigues me about this place, however, is their passion for serving only the freshest & best quality seafood, combined with the traditional British method of preparation, which remains very hard to find in the country! The location at Tanjung Rhu cannot be beaten, especially since it features the coveted sunset view for a meal destination – anywhere!
