Overview of Kapitan TTDI

During my initial visit to Kapitan Tandoori House in TTDI, the exterior hinted at a classy and potentially expensive dining experience. The bustling crowd inside and the impressive interior validated this assumption. The comfortable, air-conditioned setting added to the appeal.

Opting for the Naan tandoori set, I was delighted by the delicious flavors, and to my satisfaction, the pricing remained reasonable. As my friends explored other dishes, I made a mental note to return and broaden my culinary experience. Kapitan Tandoori House has indeed earned a positive mark on my dining radar.

This restaurant, aptly named Kapitan, translates to “captain” in English and is strategically situated along Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 1, TTDI, directly opposite McDonald’s. Operating daily from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm, it has become my preferred destination for indulging in top-notch naan and tandoori chicken, providing a ‘5 star’ experience in terms of taste and satisfaction.

The Popular Foods in Kapitan TTDI

Tandoori chicken

The Tandoori chicken here is a masterpiece, showcasing exceptional cooking skills. It’s expertly marinated, ensuring a perfect balance of flavors – not too dry, just the right smokiness, and a succulent, juicy texture. The seasoning hits the sweet spot, offering a delightful combination of spices without being too spicy or salty.

Every bite of the Tandoori chicken is a culinary delight, and paired with their naan, it’s a combination that we thoroughly enjoy until the very last morsel. For those who appreciate the rich taste of Nasi Bryani or the perfection of Tandoori chicken, Kapitan TTDI is a culinary haven.

The Tandoori chicken, cooked to perfection, strikes the right balance – neither too dry nor too hard, beautifully seasoned, and with that distinct smoky flavor that elevates the entire dining experience. Served with fluffy rice, it’s a momentary escape from worries, and what’s remarkable is the tenderness of every part of the Tandoori chicken, even the chicken breast. Kapitan TTDI has truly mastered the art of preparing an impeccable Tandoori chicken that keeps me coming back for more.

Milani Chicken

My visit to Kapitan TTDI introduced me to what I can confidently say is the best chicken milani in town. Their signature milani sauce, while having a sour and tangy flavor profile, creates a delightful combination with the succulent lamb and fragrant briyani rice. This dish is so impressive that there’s no need to travel to Penang for a taste (8/10).

The milani chicken rice at Kapitan TTDI exceeded my expectations. It comes with two gravies – a butter sauce and a mint sauce. A tip that made a significant difference in the overall experience: make sure to mix the mint sauce.

Once combined, the mint sauce, which initially may seem overly minty, transforms into a complementary element that elevates the already fantastic milani chicken rice to a whole new level. The flavors blended seamlessly, offering a culinary experience that left a lasting impression.

Nasi Kandar

Whenever I dine at Kapitan TTDI for nasi kandar, it consistently exceeds expectations. The prices here are notably affordable, making it a more budget-friendly option compared to most nasi kandar spots in KL. It has rightfully earned its place as one of the best establishments for this Malaysian dish.

During my recent visit, I indulged in a variety of dishes, including ayam goreng, ayam masala, kambing kurma, omelette, mixed vegetables, and cabbage sayur. Each dish stood out, and I particularly appreciated the thick and rich consistency of the curries, avoiding the common pitfall of being watery.

While some might find the combination of curries subpar, the meticulous care in keeping the food fresh was evident. The ayam bawang, in particular, impressed me with its generous serving of fried onions. Maintaining the warmth of each dish, the cleanliness of the dining environment was commendable.

Cheese Naan

Kapitan TTDI is my go-to spot for their fantastic garlic cheese naan set. The breads here never disappoint – soft, pillowy, and wonderfully stretchy, providing a delightful texture with every bite.

One of the highlights is the pureed dhaal, adding a smooth and velvety consistency to each spoonful. While the cheese naan may not deliver an extravagant cheese pull, it remains a tasty treat. Without a doubt, Kapitan TTDI stands as my favorite restaurant whenever I yearn for the perfect cheese naan.

Claypot

I make sure to indulge in their delectable claypot dishes. Recently, I tried their beef briyani clay pot, and despite its seemingly small appearance, it proved to be remarkably filling. The Claypot fish briyani was a delightful experience, with the fish imparting a fresh and seductive flavor. Now, Kapitan TTDI has become my regular spot for relishing the flavorsome claypot chicken briyani.

The portions of their briyani claypot creations are quite sizable, making it an ideal choice for sharing, especially if you’re conscious of your food intake or trying to maintain your weight. Personally, I enjoy sharing these flavorful dishes with a buddy.

Among the various options, I highly recommend the chicken briyani – a truly tasty delight that never fails to satisfy my cravings. Even their naans are so irresistible that they leave me drooling. The consistency in taste, whether it’s the claypot biryani or the chicken biryani, resonates with the delicious flavors I’ve come to expect from Kapitan, reminiscent of the Penang outlet. Every visit to Kapitan TTDI is a delightful journey into the world of scrumptious claypot delights.

Drinks

teh tarik by Kapitan Tandoori House

Let me share my thoughts on the beverages we tried at Kapitan TTDI. First up was the Ginger tea, and I’d say it was okay, nothing extraordinary. Moving on to the Mango Lassi, it turned out to be a bit too sweet and thick for my liking.

Interestingly, I learned that this thickness is typical for lassi, and although I’m not used to pairing it with rice, I was informed that it’s a common and beneficial combination aiding digestion after consuming meat and rice.

Next on the list was the Masala tea, which fell into the okay category but didn’t quite hit the mark for greatness. Finally, we had the Teh Tarik, and it fared well. It struck a good balance – not overly thick but still within an acceptable range. Each beverage offered a different experience, with some hitting the right notes while others fell short of expectations.

Parking At Kapitan TTDI Area

When it comes to parking at Kapitan TTDI, I found that there are spaces available in the surrounding area of the restaurant. However, it’s worth noting that, as usual, it can be challenging to secure parking spots in TTDI. Considering this, we opted to use Grab to reach the restaurant.

Parking in TTDI tends to be challenging, especially during peak hours, so my recommendation is to arrive early or choose non-peak hours to avoid any potential disappointments. Alternatively, there are paid parking areas with plenty of parking bays within walking distance, providing another option for those planning to visit the restaurant.

When I stepped into Kapitan TTDI, I immediately noticed the pleasant ambiance. The interior, although air-conditioned, might not provide much relief during crowded, sunny days. I found it a bit noisy when seated inside, prompting me to opt for the outside tables, which suited my preference better. Despite this, the overall decor exuded warmth and invited a comfortable dining experience. Notably, the restaurant’s upscale decor set it apart from the typical mamak establishments.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Kapitan TTDI stands out as a delightful culinary destination, offering a diverse and delectable menu that caters to various preferences. From the savory Naan Tandoori set to the flavorful Claypot Chicken Biryani, the restaurant consistently delivers on taste and quality.

While the ambiance provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, the restaurant’s commitment to affordable pricing adds to its appeal. Kapitan TTDI has become my go-to spot for authentic Indian cuisine in a comfortable setting, making each dining experience enjoyable and satisfying. Whether indulging in their renowned cheese naan or savoring the richness of their tandoori chicken, Kapitan TTDI has certainly secured its place as a culinary gem in TTDI.
